A karma connection, some self-dealing, and an interesting read…
Well, this is something interesting from Rob Denney; the Harry Proa guy who’s been doing good works down in Fiji.
Considering the cost of wood these days, the idea of building boats with soft-drink bottles is making all kinds of sense. Plus he had me at recycled soda bottles.
For those wondering, the current exchange rate of the Fiji dollar is about $0.45.
I, for one, am very interested in seeing how the recycled soda bottles work. I’ll let you know what I find out…

I just watched a video of some guy ripping loads of nylon peel-ply off a build and it goes straight in the bin. I dont know if the stuff can be recycled once used. At some point, human suffering is going to go off the charts while others will still be consuming like tomorrow will never come.
I’ve long had issues with peel-ply. It’s expensive and promotes using more epoxy than needful. Sure it makes for a better finish if you’re prone to slapping on more epoxy that you’ll need to sand off to make fair.
Same goes for infusion in ply-epoxy construction…
It’s all about increasing someone’s profits.
