A trebuchet I’d love to play with, disappearing books, and the word for today is starwashing…
Some time back, in spite of my distaste of putting money in a facsist’s pocket, we bought a Starlink Mini as it was on sale so we could take care of business when in the middle of nowhere. So far, we’ve never taken it out of the box.
As it happens, with Starlink’s ever-changing service plans, it appears we may actually never get to use it. The new plans available are so restrictive that it just doesn’t make much sense thus, the unit, still in its box, is just taking up room.
So, our never-used Starlink Mini is now in the “sell this shit and get it off the boat” locker.
What can I say but it seemed like a good idea at the time…
That said, I do miss the idea of booking a French canal charter from 48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W.
I saw that bloke Riley from Vagabond doing his bit to convince Elon about affordable subscriptions. I dont know if all the people commenting understood the irony that it was people just like him that have spoiled it for everyone else who did just want weather and emergency calls, rather than downloading GBs of yet more footage of his partner in a bikini, in order to make a few $ on Ytube.
There should be a “content creator” package for those using starlink for that purpose…..they can write off the expense on the tax side. Perhaps then those that only use it once a day could still get an affordable subscription?
