A new variant, some same old same, and a back country ski account that says a lot…
I saw a junk for sale in France that caught my attention. As it happens, it was a design I’d seriously considered before building our Bolger Jessie Cooper. It was, and still is, a very cool junk design.

JP Villenave literally wrote the book on plywood construction for home boat builders and his partnership with D La Forestier, who was something of a guru where junk design was concerned, resulted in what may be one of the best junk designs ever.
Anyway, a great boat all around.

I could not see the advert as i did not want to agree to the 325 “partners” storing cookies on my PC. Anyhoo, I have a soft spot for boats with lute stern types, and that is an interesting layout given the size.
The book I have not seen, at 125 Euros and only one in stock. For everyone else, Boatbuilding in Plywood by Glen L Witt, is a cheaper alternative and one assumes just as much information. It has been my “go to” for plywood scantlings for decades.
