Aw shit, something on legal capitulation, and in the “boats make sense” department…
“All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities.
It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible.”
― Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: Dune
I’ve never been a big Frank Herbert fan and, other than Dune, his writings just don’t do it for me. That said, the above quote really resonates these days.
Yeah folks, we got trouble with a capital “T” and that rhymes with…
Apparently, a lot of folk on boats seem to feel that they are insulated from the “T” word. Sure, we can sail away from problematic places but trouble back home can seriously screw up even the best of parachute plans.
For instance, our current plan is to get out of the “H” zone and the island we’re most likely to go to does not require a visa for Americans. Of course, tomorrow the current occupant of the White House may do something rude and the day after it may be a whole different story.
The same occupant also floated the other day that it should be illegal for immigrants to send money to foreign countries. Being just how ham-fisted the powers that be are, what happens if you’re in Columbia and the cash machine won’t give you your money? A lot of what can happen to us has a lot to do with what’s going on back home.
Yeah, I know, politics are a downer. Still, it might be in your best interest to start taking a critical look at what’s going on and how it can screw with your life and plans. Trust me, you don’t want to be one of those folks from history who waited too long to get to doing.
