Today’s job is to sort out some more exhaust hose for the Islander. Hopefully there will be enough hose on island so it’s just a matter of buying it but the general rule on parts for the engine is having to buy stuff online and then wait for the needful bits to get down to America’s paradise. A process that is starting to really get up my nose.
Of course, it’s hardly surprising as the biggest cost and hassle factor for most all folks with sailboats is not sail related but engine related. Lin and Larry certainly knew what they were doing when they decided not to add an engine to Seraffyn or Taleisin.
I’ll be honest and say that I’m actually looking forward to having a engine on one level but if there was a market for a forty year old Yanmar it would be up for sale in a New York minute.
