they’re alive…

A needful read, some “H” season stuff, and in the “profoundly disappointing” department…

So, I had an interesting start today when we came across a lizard peeking out from the ceiling.

It made me happy.

When we bought the Islander we had no idea that it came with a lizard or, more likely, a family of lizards. The lizard or lizards keep a very low profile. So low a profile that I’d assumed that they had passed away and crossed that rainbow bridge to wherever lizards go.

As we never tie up to land, it’s not possible that this morning’s lizard is a new resident. He/She is either somewhat long in the tooth or was born right here on the boat. A native Islander if you will.

Since it’s almost summer (spelled D-e-n-g-u-e) it’s a bonus having a critter or two who eats small insects like mosquitos. We’ve both had Dengue fever and it’s not something either of us care to repeat.

Anyway, I was going to write something about it being Arthur Conan Doyle’s birthday with a cruising connection but got side tracked by that little green guy peeking out at me. So, that post will have to wait till next May 25…
