A tribute band of note, some interesting medieval history, and in today’s “think it through” department…
A bunch of years back in the BVI, we were sitting next to a couple who had just completed the Caribbean 1500 who told us they’d only motored 40 hours or so. I’m pretty sure they were trying to impress us. I’ll be honest and admit the idea that forty-something hours of motoring did make me wonder about the cost of their diesel fuel bill.
Yesterday, someone in the Islander 36 group mentioned that diesel in the bay area was $9.79 a gallon. My mind instantly thought about 40 hours of motoring and the cost of a diesel fuel bill for that couple in the BVI would be $391.60 today.
I really need to build that Yuloh and find someone who wants to buy a Yanmar 3HM…

Our Pearson 32 had a yuloh we built and it worked great. Even with the drag of 4.5′ draft and prop. We could scull off the dock, go out a few hundred feet and cut a 180 and return. No speed records but sure and steady.
