Garry Hoyt’s website is no longer around. Not really surprising in that he passed away on March 31, in 2025. Still, I’m a little pissed off because there was information on the site of various designs that I no longer have access to. Like his Offset Rig, a tradical take on the balanced lug rig.
Or this simple but brilliant self-tacking, balanced jib boom…
Sadly, it appears we’re living in a time when a lot of awesome design genius is about to disappear simply because designers have not future-proofed their designs and legacy. Something to think about. From now on I’ll be downloading, rather than bookmarking, reference materials I might need in the future.
Ideas and brilliant thought, on the internet are just so much maritime design legacy dust in the wind.
If you know the site URL, you can check archive.org way back machine and see if someone archived it. Its a way to save and access old sites. You could even archive sites for others in the future.

Google spits out what it wants to give you, rather than what you specifically asked for…….at least that is how it is for me.
I like that jib boom, less hassle than Bolgers “spinnaker jib/genoa” set up.
For some reason I still can’t get the wayback to work for me.
Garry’s gun mount spinnaker mount is something that amazes me that it has not become more popular…
