a bit more about that junk…

A plethora of needful bullet points, today on the weather front, and in the “Heinous state of affairs” department…

I’m having one of those days. I’d rant about it but don’t feel any of you deserve the pain.

In the mean time, since Eric Henseval has sent some more info on the DIVINITÉ 7m expé (including materials list and costings). I’ll give you another peek at the junk rig version.

Junk rig version of Eric Henseval's Divinite 7m expe

What’s even better is that Eric has added the possibility of a junk rig that can use a foresail. It’s been my opinion that the use of a foresail with junk or lug rig is a positive bit of evolution. Sure, I know the fear of foresails runs deep in junk circles but the advantages far outweigh any perceived issues.

But, more on that subject later…

  1. Not heard of the ” fear of foresails” before. Old working luggers would set flying jibs. Only need a single temporary backstay on light masts. I imagine the slot-effect is worthwhile on a junk.

Pity the marina nazis will put that in the 8-10 metre price bracket, just because of the wind vane. That is a generous rig for the displacement.
