any old boat…

Something on the subject of stupidity, some notes on energy disinformation, and some good advice

I’ve been thinking about how there are so many great old cruising boats selling for very little. Not a bad time to buy a cruising boat… right?

For instance, there’s an Islander 36 selling for just under $10K (or just about $0.75 a pound) that looks like it doesn’t need much in the way of work/expense. Which, in my opinion, is more than likely a very good deal.

Various Islander 36s have crossed oceans, done circumnavigations, and even at least one has circumnavigated non-stop so they’re more than up to the rigors of cruising. The most important thing is that there are dozens of designs just like it that can be had for pennies on the dollar. All you have to do is simply look for them

When you think about it, pretty much any old boat in good shape will do.
