Maybe the best thing about doing a VolksCruiser is that by its very nature, it’s a minimum-impact exercise. A smaller boat and budget go a long way to lessen one’s impact on the local environment. The less negative impact the better.
Having lived in and around cruising areas I’ve been in the front row to a lot of negative impacts including cruise lines and bareboat charters which, while good for a few, have a nasty habit of sucking money out of the Caribbean rather than enriching it.
I bring this all up because I recently read a good article on the negative impact of cruise ships in Alaska just after watching a video with some positive impacts.
