My plan for today is to dig out the $100 Wen drill press again and do some drilling. This tool really ups the game in making boat bits especially when working with materials like stainless steel. Not having to go to a machine shop for making something like a chain-plate will save far more than the cost of the drill.
The downside is that it takes up quite a bit of room in terms of stowage. Still, the ongoing cost savings more than earn their keep. Plus, being the only guy in an anchorage with a drill press can often turn into an earning situation.
Today’s job is just drilling wood but it’s so much easier to take advantage of the precision that a drill press adds to a project.
Anyway, just something to think about…
