a cunning plan…

Someone making sense, a needful cat story, and in the “this sucks” department…

I’m currently in the process of trying to sort out a cunning plan to replace a settee in the Islander with a dinette. I find a dinette just makes more sense and it makes a better editing arrangement for film projects.

Yeah, I know, not the same old same, but it makes sense to me.

On “So It Goes” we modified the CAL 34 dinette to be more like the one’s George Buehler designed for his designs with raised seats and table. The result added a lot of accessible useful stowage as well as increased visibility.

A nice dinette will fit our cunning plan

We’ll still have one ‘proper’ settee on the Islander which is handy for lazing and playing music. This cunning plan will hopefully result in a win/win situation. I have high hopes.

Of course, when changing any boats design, one has to walk a tightrope between seaworthiness and comfort. Far too many modern boats are designed like a luxury condo.

It’s a sailboat.

As it happens, I’m posting this early because Friday Jan 30th is a National shutdown/strike and felt I should get with the program. So should you.

Take the day off…
