Some Caribbean news, a bad dream from Snarky Penguin, and some good news on the salmon front…
So, it’s almost Thanksgiving and my thoughts bounce back and forth between the collective insanity of the world, a dodger, and what to cook for the “T” day. Too many conundrums for sure.
One conundrum I’ve finally solved on the Islander front is I’ve finally settled on a solution for the dodger. As it happens, a lot of Cascade 36s have just the sort that ticks all my needs…

Cascade 36 Dodger
Better yet, its minimal nature uses a lot less material which makes it both lighter and cheaper which works for me in a big way. Building a new dodger just might be the Holidaze present I’ve been hoping for.
For those unacquainted with the Cascade 36 it’s a design well worth taking a look at.

For those who don’t share my DIY bent, I’ll point out that Cascade will build you one in fiberglass. It’s a stock item for their Cascade 27, 29, 36, and 42/44 designs. I’d guess that the dodgers would be pretty adaptable to other boats in the same size ranges.
I have no idea what the cost would be but, with the current prices on such things, it could be quite a bit less expensive than a bespoke fabric alternative.
On the other hand, going the DIY route should not cost more than $250 with a few days worth of sweat equity.
Just sayin’…
