A book for our times, math challenged, and in the “Yeah, I’m going to miss PBS” department…
So, let’s say you want a boat to do the Northwest Passage or, just maybe, how about doing something really insane and do a non-stop circumnavigation of the Americas. What boat would you choose?
As far as I know there has only been one non-stop circumnavigation of the Americas and that was by Matt Rutherford on an Albin Vega 27 named St. Brendan.

Color me all kinds of impressed!
The Albin Vega was a very popular boat and they built 3450 of them over the years. So, pretty easy to find used at a reasonable price.
There’s a pretty good film available on Matt Rutherford’s Americas circumnavigation. You might want to check it out to get a feel for what’s possible in a 27-foot sailboat.
Need I say more?
