an Islander 36 fallen on hard times…

EBM pointing out the obvious, a quick history lesson, and an out-of-the-box solution

This morning I saw there was an Islander 36 in Tacoma selling for $2k. The only information provided was that it has a non-operative gas engine.

Offhand, knowing what I know about boats and marinas, it could be a good deal or even a very good deal. After all, it’s floating right side up and even has a mast.

More than likely, it will wind up as landfill unless someone takes it on.

Might be worth a look if you’re in the general area…

Hey there, just wanted to pipe up and tell you thanks for that you are continuing to post these when you see them. I’m on the lookout for some kind of low end tubby boat for electric experiments and low-tech cruising. By “low end” I mean I’m on SSDI and would be spending on such a boat the dosh I’m now spending on my subsidized apartment & city lifestyle… about 500 bugs a month.

I’m hoping to find something with minimal draft, minimal interior amenities and no or easily foldable mast. Heck if a barge wouldn’t do me but you never see those on craigslist. I’d build one in my apartment but the dang ol books even only fit in here one at a time

i mean also this particular boat is probably too big for a noob like me for to single-hand anywhere, and also I’m not excited about doing a gasserectomy and cleaning up greases, blocking seacox and watnot whilst still in water… but I will if I hafta

that smaller tolly looks nice if i have to yard engines out, but keeping it fed in the meantime, even assuming it works… how many worms are even in this can
