A book you should check out, when NO is the right answer, and in the “cruising in the time of war” department…
I’m a huge fan of a handline they sell in France as it’s great at catching fish and surprisingly affordable at just a kiss over $40 bucks (35€).

Admittedly, it’s really for coastal fishing while sailing. If you want to go offshore you might consider a beefier set up. Still, it would make sense to have a couple of reasonable facsimiles on board your boat. Personally I always keep a half dozen handlines handy and at least one for the dinghy.
Of course, if you’re put off by a $40 buck handline, anyone with half a brain could make one for a paltry $10 bucks. No rocket science involved. Currently, on my to do list is an article on how to build such a beast.
A simple handline like this one can catch more fish than someone with a pair of $1K trolling rod combos. A set up I see on a lot of cruising boats that never seem to get used. Just transom bling I guess.
That said, the real trick is just fish.
