Some good points, a different take on Tarot, and a song for my favorite holidaze…
I’ll be honest and admit that sailing around the Caribbean has become a bit nervous and confused of late. For starters, it appears we seem to be ramping up for yet another war based on bugger all. You know, sort of the same old same and we’ve all seen this movie before.
There also appears to be military assets conducting extrajudicial executions against folks on boats suspected of carrying drugs. The operative word being suspected and, as most USCG inspections down here are looking for drugs or other contraband, it would appear that folks on sailboats just might fall into the suspects zone of thinking. Which, I’ll admit, makes me nervous as US warplanes fly over us on a regular basis these days.
I mention this because I wanted to do Trinidad for some work and a haul-out but, considering bodies seem to be floating up on T&T beaches, folks from the country responsible for such things, are sorta/kinda unwelcome.
Meanwhile, Noonsite is extolling the virtues of cruising in Africa yet there’s nothing about what’s going on in the southern Caribbean. It’s more than time to abandon the “Let’s all pretend it’s all normal” mindset.
Just sayin’…

You dont want to be a fisherman who owns a Panga style boat………most of the fisherman i met in the Caribbean did. A crew long-lining with cooler boxes looks just like a drug laden one. Pity no evidence left…….
