today’s task…

Sail Delmarva saying something needful, some GPS hi-jinks, and in the “just in case you weren’t paying attention” department…

It occurred to me that most of my catch-up tasks of late have been working on outboards from the last century. As it happens, today’s task is a 3HP Yamaha which I’m pretty sure was built in 1990. At best, fixing a 35-year old outboard is somewhat problematic. Parts are a bitch but, luckily, one can usually make do with a bit of inspired mayhem and baling wire.

On the other hand, working on 4-stroke motors is a somewhat insanity inducing affair. Sure, the motors are way better than the motors they’ve replaced but I much prefer working on a simple as sin, 2-stroke given a choice.

Of course, my preferred propulsion system for dinghies is human power. The lowly oar is something in which I take great enjoyment and pleasure with.

Wanna buy a 35-year old motor?
