Chuck Wendig addresses a problem a lot of us are having, Billie Joe Armstrong covers the Beach Boys, and something in the “very much worth thinking about” department…
Yesterday, I was doing some epoxy work up at the bow to sort out the previous owner’s DIY foibles. Now, some folks complain about working on their boats but I actually relish being able to make things better. Knowing that I can depend on all the bits that comprise the Islander 36 makes me a very happy camper.
Sure, I’m seldom joyful on the cost of things these days. Though I’m told the greedy bastards will get their karmic comeuppance and I pretend to believe it.
Still, finding first rate materials for a reasonable cost can be daunting. Luckily for me, I find that treating a given project aboard is best treated as a game. I’ve even considered making a board game akin to Monopoly where the players get an old boat and fix it up with the winner being who does it for the least amount of money.
What can I say? With the right attitude, being cheap can be very enjoyable…
